It may seem odd that a collection of such exuberant colours and large gestures should be titled “Introspective”, but at the heart of Andrea's work there seems to be an inner life churning with pressures and thoughtful pauses. As with the best abstract artists, these acrylic paintings often are built upon hidden landscapes – of nature and of the spirit. Both solemnity and whimsy abound, sometimes within the same painting. This is the work of a self-aware mind and a skilful hand – above all, the work of an artist who takes delight in colour and form and who leads the viewer into the same frame of mind.
